Institute of Marketing in Malawi Renews Its Board for 2026–2028

The Institute of Marketing in Malawi (IMM) has announced the composition of its new Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term, following elections conducted electronically for the third time.

The vote saw George Damson re-elected as President and Twikale Chirwa as Vice-President. Both are thus beginning a second term at the helm of the board. Six other professionals are joining the board as elected directors: Stanley Chiyora, Unkhanthu Ng’oma, Comfort Khaula, Norah Chirwa, Miller J. John, and Gray Chikanda.

Renewed Governance

Through these elections, the IMM continues to renew its leadership while ensuring continuity by reappointing its President and Vice-President. The Institute also commended its members for their participation in the electoral process and thanked the Electoral Council for organizing the vote, which was described as transparent, credible, and well-managed.

Electronic Voting as a Governance Tool

For the third time, the Institute of Marketing in Malawi held its elections electronically. This choice reflects a commitment to modernizing internal processes and facilitating member participation. According to the IMM, the use of electronic voting is intended to enhance efficiency, accuracy, transparency, and trust in the Institute’s governance mechanisms. This development also illustrates the digital transformation of professional organizations, extending to their electoral and institutional processes.

A New Mandate for Marketing in Malawi

The new 2026–2028 board will now be responsible for continuing the IMM’s efforts to develop and structure the marketing profession in Malawi. Beyond the appointment of new leadership, this election marks a significant moment for an evolving profession, one facing digital transformation, shifting communication practices, and new expectations regarding professional skills. With this new team, the IMM aims to continue its work through a participatory governance model tailored to the sector’s transformations.

The mandate has now been set. A new chapter of activity begins for the Institute of Marketing in Malawi and its members.
