Pan-African Events to Watch in 2026

From Nairobi to Cape Town, several events in 2026 are bringing together professionals from the creative, communication, marketing, media and advertising industries to discuss the sector’s transformation. Comms & Marketing Africa takes a look at some of these gatherings, which highlight creativity, innovation, technology and collaboration across Africa.

Africa Borderless Creative Economy Summit: Imagining a Borderless Creative Industry

The Africa Borderless Creative Economy Summit returns to Nairobi on 28–29 October 2026, bringing together the people, ideas and opportunities shaping Africa’s creative economy. The summit brings together agencies, brands, freelancers, marketing teams and technology stakeholders to explore the growth and transformation of Africa’s creative economy.

Organized by the Pan African Agency Network (PAAN), the event takes a partnership- and business-oriented approach, with keynotes, panels, strategic workshops, showcases and networking opportunities. Discussions will explore the impact of innovation, technology and talent mobility on Africa’s creative industries. The event forms part of a broader conversation about the ability of African professionals to work across borders and develop collaborations at a continental scale.

DigiMarCon South Africa: Marketing in the Age of AI and Technology

On 28 and 29 September 2026 in Johannesburg, DigiMarCon South Africa will bring together professionals from digital marketing, media and advertising. The announced programme covers digital marketing, social media, SEO, content creation, marketing automation, artificial intelligence and advertising technologies. The event will feature conferences, panels and discussions on emerging industry practices.

A few days later, on 1 and 2 October, DigiMarCon Africa will take place in Cape Town, with a programme covering AI, marketing automation, content marketing, social media, SEO, AdTech and MarTech. The event will be available both in person and online.

Loeries Creative Week: Six Days Focused on Creativity

From 4 to 9 October 2026, Cape Town will also host Loeries Creative Week, presented as a meeting point for creative professionals from Africa and the Middle East. Over six days, creatives, agencies, brands, marketers, media professionals, educators and young talent will come together for judging, learning, talent development and professional exchange. Beyond recognizing campaigns and creative work, the event places creativity, culture and the evolution of the industry at the centre of discussions.

One Common Question: How Can Africa’s Creative Industries Evolve?

These events have different formats and areas of focus. Some emphasize marketing and technology, while others focus on advertising creativity, talent development or opportunities for collaboration among African industry players.

They nevertheless point to a broader shift: communication, advertising, marketing and the creative industries are increasingly being approached as interconnected sectors rather than isolated fields. AI, technology, new business models, talent mobility and Pan-African collaboration are gradually reshaping professional practices.

For African professionals, these events also provide spaces where expertise, visibility, learning and collaboration opportunities come together.
