Institute of Marketing Malawi (IMM) : Two Key Events Bringing Together Women Leaders and Ethical Marketing

Founded in January 2021, the Institute of Marketing Malawi (IMM) has established itself as a leading organization in the development and promotion of the marketing profession in Malawi. As the successor to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Malawi, the institution is committed to promoting, supporting, and advancing the profession, while facilitating professionals’ access to leadership roles.

The IMM is working to build a supportive environment where marketing professionals can access strategic information, relevant resources, and development opportunities. The goal is clear: to enable professionals to thrive in an increasingly competitive market while making a positive impact on their communities. Driven by an ambitious vision, the organization aims to train a new generation of marketers capable of holding influential and leadership positions at both the national and continental levels. To achieve this, it relies on core values such as growth, inclusivity, leadership, commitment, adaptability, and dynamism.

Beyond its local initiatives, the IMM is part of a strategic pan-African network. It is affiliated with the African Marketing Confederation, an organization that unites marketing professionals across the continent to promote high and harmonized standards. It also maintains ties with the Marketing Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ), thereby strengthening regional synergies.

Within this dynamic, the IMM is multiplying its initiatives to stimulate exchanges and enhance skills. Among the key events, the Women in Marketing Brunch, scheduled for March 28, 2026, at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Blantyre Ryalls, promises to be a highlight. The event aims to foster high-quality networking, conducive to collaborations and business opportunities, while highlighting inspiring figures, such as international speaker Nicky Verd, a digital transformation expert and renowned author.

At the same time, the IMM is focusing on ethical issues in a context marked by the explosion of data and increased competition. In partnership with the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC), the organization is offering a webinar entitled “Marketing Ethics and Consumer Protection,” scheduled for March 24, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This session will address legal obligations in marketing, common mistakes made by professionals, and best practices for building lasting trust with Malawian consumers.

Through these initiatives, the IMM reaffirms its role as a catalyst for more responsible, inclusive, and effective marketing, serving the economic and social development of Malawi.
